Use Our Breakeven Analysis Calculator To Determine If You May Make A Profit

Breakeven Analysis Calculator

How many units do I need to sell to breakeven?

Given your profit margin, it is important to know how many units of a certain product that you will need to sell in order to cover your fixed/startup costs. Use this calculator to determine the number of units required to breakeven plus the potential profit you could make on your anticipated sales volume.

What is a Breakeven Analysis Calculator?

A breakeven analysis calculator is an essential online tool that helps Canadian business owners determine the point at which their commercial real estate investment becomes profitable. This calculator helps you understand how many units you need to sell or how much revenue you need to generate to cover all your fixed and variable costs.

How To Use Breakeven Analysis Calculator

Using the calculator is easy. Just enter these four things:

  • Total Fixed Costs (like rent, insurance, and property taxes in CAD)
  • Variable Cost per Unit (what you spend to make each item)
  • Sales Price per Unit (what you charge customers)
  • Anticipated Unit Sales (how many items you expect to sell, from 0 to 999,999,999)

For example, if you run a store in Toronto and:

  • Pay $5,000 CAD monthly for all fixed costs
  • Spend $20 CAD to make each item
  • Sell each item for $50 CAD
  • Expect to sell 200 units per month

The calculator will show you if you're selling enough to make money.

How to Interpret the Results

The calculator provides several key metrics:

  • Breakeven Point in Units: The number of units you need to sell to cover all costs
  • Breakeven Point in Dollars: The revenue needed to break even
  • Margin of Safety: How far your current sales are from the breakeven point

Using our previous example, if your breakeven point is 167 units, you'll know you need to sell at least this many items monthly to cover your commercial space costs and start generating profit.
